Case Study: 3Com Safety Processing System
select a study
description:
SPS is an internally accessible, web-based workers compensation management system built specifically for 3Com's Real Estate & Site Services division.
client:
At the time of development, 3Com was the second largest networking company in the world with over $6 billion in annual revenues, and more than 13,200 employees operating from 160 offices in 45 countries.
problem:
3Com maintained numerous manufacturing facilities throughout the world and needed a system to consolidate and track all of the lost and non-lost work illnesses and injuries. In addition, for the facilities in the United States, they need to be able to review, approve, automatically submit and track claims with their insurance carrier.
solution:
In 1999, Clearbuilt designed, developed, and operated a Safety Processing System that allowed multiple levels of initial data input (employee, supervisor, and administrators) and engaged the appropriate workers compensation coordinator according to the defined review process. If a claim was filed and approved, it was automatically sent to the insurance carrier via a secure Internet connection.
features:
- integration with the corporate accounting system and insurance carrier
- highly-sophisticated, rules-based notification system
- automatic escalation when waiting on a response
- hosted on a Clearbuilt maintained server behind the corporate firewall
- dramatically reduced the paper required and errors made
